The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region reported the arrest of 311 wanted persons and the seizure of more than P27 million worth of illegal drugs during the first month of Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales as regional director.
PRO-NIR said the accomplishments were recorded from Sept. 7 to Oct. 7 as Reales pushed police units across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor to strengthen crime prevention, police visibility and law enforcement operations.
Police conducted 311 operations against wanted persons, resulting in the arrest of 59 individuals classified as Most Wanted Persons and 252 other wanted persons.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, PRO-NIR conducted 226 operations and arrested 246 individuals.
Police seized 3,981.46 grams of shabu and 150.4 grams of marijuana with a combined standard drug price of P27.09 million.
PRO-NIR also reported 109 operations against illegal cigarette smuggling, which led to six arrests and the confiscation of cigarettes valued at P11.21 million.
Another 103 operations were conducted against loose firearms, including seven search warrant implementations.
Police said 25 individuals were arrested while 45 firearms were confiscated and another 75 firearms were surrendered.
Meanwhile, 110 anti-illegal gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 240 individuals and the confiscation of P35,044 in bet money.
PRO-NIR reported a total of 495,840 law enforcement operations during the one-month period.
Of this number, 494,981 were enforcement activities involving local ordinances, during which police said 959,227 individuals were warned and 522,382 were fined for violations.
The remaining 859 operations covered campaigns against wanted persons, illegal drugs, cigarette smuggling, loose firearms and illegal gambling based on the figures released by PRO-NIR.
Reales said his policing direction centers on basic police functions, including visible presence in communities, prompt response to incidents, crime prevention and case resolution.
“Our policing is simple: go back to the basics and carry them out with discipline and purpose. Be present. Respond promptly. Prevent crime. Solve cases. Protect the people,” he said.
PRO-NIR said Reales has also emphasized discipline, accountability and respect for citizens’ rights in police operations.
The regional police said its focus after Reales’ first month is to sustain operations, identify gaps and improve the responsiveness of police units to communities across the Negros Island Region.*
