The STI West Negros University Team was named champion of the Abanse Negrense Governor’s Cup 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament, held at the STI WNU Gymnasium in Bacolod City Saturday, December 10. The Dumaguete City Team was 1st runner-up while Bacolod City-ABB was 2nd runner up. The tournament, spearheaded by the Provincial Sports Office, was held as a tribute to the late Oscar “Dodong” Bascon’s contributions to Negros basketball. Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the awarding of the winners together with former Board Member Agustin Ernesto Bascon and Carminia Gatuslao – Bascon, and Provincial Sports Coordinator Anthony Carlo Agustin.*

Abanse Negrense's Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship continued its qualifying round over the weekend. Pontevedra and Sagay City hosted the tournament on Oct. 8 and 9, respectively. Local football fans in the province of Negros Occidental witnessed the South Central Districts Qualifying on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Pontevedra. The event held in partnership with World Archery Philippines (WAP) and Yuhum Foundation was held at The Upper East Bacolod Grounds. Following the exciting North and South brackets eliminations, the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) and ABANSE NEGRENSE’s Governor’s Cup Inter-LGU 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will continue for semi-finals and the provincial championship on Oct. 8, Saturday at 9 am in Talisay City.
