The Domingo Lacson National High School softball team was named champion of the DepEd – Province of Negros Occidental Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) 18 and under Softball Tournament held April 4-7, in Bacolod City. Placing 2nd was the Ramon Torres National High School, followed by Bacolod City National High School - 3rd place, and Brgy. E Lopez National High School - 4th place, a Capitol press release said. Capitol photo The Department of Education Negros Occidental-Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) 18 and under Softball Tournament officially opened Tuesday, April 5, at the Bacolod City National High School. Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Lacson led the ceremonial pitch of the said sports event. Also present in the opening ceremonies were Atty. Revsee Escobedo, Usec for Field Operations, Palarong Pambansa Secretariat, BCNHS Principal Allan Pomada, DepEd Negros Occ. Schools Division Superintendent, Marsette Sabbaluca, and Negros Occ. Provincial Sports Coordinator, Anthony Agustin, among others. The softball tournament will be held until April 7.

Capitol photo The Bacolod City National High School Team was named champion in the Juniors and Seniors Category of the Negros Softball Qualifying Tournament held in Silay City from March 21 – 24, 2022. The ETCS team also emerged champion in the Majors Category of the said sports event. Gov. Bong Lacson led the awarding of the winners and lauded the active participation of the different softball teams from all over the province. Capitol photo Football and Futsal referees from the different local government units of the province attended a two-day Refresher Course organized by the provincial government’s Sports Development Program Management Section. The refresher course, that started on March 2, aims to update the local officiating sports officials on the new amendments of the ball games for efficient performance during competitions and matches. San Carlos opens 2nd Pintaflores table tennis tourney

The San Carlos City Sports Office opened the three-day 2nd 2021 Pintaflores Table Tennis Tournament at the City Sports Park on Oct. 29. A total of 60 participating players will be playing under the categories 12 under boys and girls; 25-up boys and girls and 35-up mixed category boys and girls. Participants were divided into 20 players per day to observe minimum health and safety protocols due to the ongoing pandemic. The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Sports Office led by Executive Assistant to the Governor and Provincial Sports Coordinator Tony Agustin.
