Classes in Negros Oriental, Bacolod City, and several other areas in Negros Occidental have been suspended on Friday, July 10, amid expected heavy rainfall and strong winds brought on by Typhoon “Inday” and the Southwest Monsoon.Gov. The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has reported higher utilization of the SAFE NIR 911 hotline in calls for emergency response since its launch in the first week of June this year.Data on Tuesday showed the PRO-NIR received 258 emergency calls through the platform from June 4 to July 4, resulting in the prompt police intervention and the arrest of 15 individuals.From Jan. 1 to June 3, only 20 emergency 911 calls were received and three persons were arrested.PRO-NIR supervises the respective police offices of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bacolod City.In a statement, PRO-NIR Director Brig. Police arrested Negros Island Region’s 8th  most wanted person in Siaton, Negros Oriental, on Monday evening, July 6.The suspect, identified only by his alias "Yoyo", was arrested in Barangay 3.He was described as a 28-year-old single farmer.The police said "Yoyo" resided in the same household as the minor victim.
