A university dean and two doctors hit with COVID-19 have died, the Kabankalan City information officer said Tuesday, November 2.
They were Dr. Lorina Baylon Crobes, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the Central Philippine State University (CPSU) and Dr. Gladys Patindol of the Kabankalan District Hospital in Barangay Tabugon who died on Monday, November 1, city information officer Jake Carlyne Gonzales said.
She said a doctor at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital also died.
CPSU president Aladino Moraca said two other faculty members are also in quarantine for COVID-19 and the university has been closed until November 15 for disinfection.
The Kabankalan City government on its Facebook page said “we are deeply saddened by the untimely death of Dr. Gladys G. Patindol, Medical Officer IV who passed away due to COVID-19.”
“She was a compassionate doctor and we will always be thankful for the excellent service she rendered,” it added.
Kabankalan Mayor Pedro P. Zayco Jr. and Vice Mayor Raul Rivera called on the barangay captains to help in the intensified vaccination campaign of the city government during a City Development Council meeting Tuesday.
The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 will be brought by the city government to the level of the barangays, Zayco said.
“The role of the barangay officials is important as we try to reach herd immunity”, the mayor said.
The CPSU-main campus graduate school in a Facebook page post said “We are deeply saddened by the news of the loss of Dr. Crobes. She was a blessing in our life as a friend, professor, sister, and coworker.”
Meanwhile, Cynthia Demavivas, former schools superintendent of Bacolod City ad Silay City passed away Tuesday, Board Member Ryan Gamboa said.
He, however, did not know what her cause of death was.*
