A conflict over a coconut tree led three brothers to kill each other in Brgy. Inolingan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Monday, December 27.

Killed were 56-year-old Armando Carpentero and his two brothers, Ben, 56, and Reynante, 38.

Maj. Randy Babor, town police chief, said the conflict started after Ben and Reynante wanted to cut the coconut tree in their parents’ yard, but elder brother Armando stopped them.

This allegedly infuriated Armando, who then hurt their mother.

Mad at what happened, Ben and Reynante, who were both drunk, stormed into Armando’s home and shot him, then left.

Unknown to the two that he was still alive, Armando ran after them and stabbed them multiple times.

Armando also succumbed to the gunshot wound.

They were found by their other brother, Telmo Carpentero, who heard the commotion outside his house.

Recovered from the scene were one .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition, and two 12-inch bladed weapons.*
