Diaz: Capitol denies Orola S-PaSS for ‘fake’ address

The Negros Occidental provincial government denied the approval of the S-PaSS application of former Bacolod Rep. John Orola because it contained a “fake” address, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Thursday, November 25.In his S-PaSS application Orola placed his destination as Silay City, Negros Occidental, and his destination barangay as Silay Airport instead of his real address, Diaz said.The S-PaSS or Safe, Swift and Smart Passage is an online travel management system used for domestic travel.“We did not approve Orola’s application because he placed a fake address,” Diaz said.Orola said his secretary had filled out the form for his S-PaSS application and placed Silay as the address because that is where the airport it.However, he no longer needs an S-PaSS f...

Two Negrenses are topnotchers in the 2021 Civil Engineer Licensure Examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Thursday, November 25.Charlene Grace Varrera Gelotin of the University of Negros Occidental was in second place with a score of 92.75 percent, and Sirgie Lowell Alegro Rufo of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City was in sixth place with a score of 91.50 percent.The PRC said 2,374 out of 6,474 passed the examination.The PRC conducted the first Civil Engineering licensure examination on November 14 and 15, in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.*

Flights from the Clark International Airport in Pampanga to the Bacolod-Silay Airport could resume soon, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Thursday, November 25.“We’re working on it…the suggestion is for flights to resume in the third week of December,” he said.Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific used to have flights from Pampanga to Negros before the COVID-19 pandemic, Diaz said.They had a 60 percent load factor and three flights a week, he said.The airlines are a bit hesitant to reopen because they might not have enough demand, Diaz said.The provincial government is working on making travel convenient and cheaper to improve the economy, he added.*
