SP approves P5.9B 2022 budget – Ferrer
The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved a P5.9 billion 2022 budget for Negros Occidental on Tuesday, November 16, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said.Approved was P5,719,337,346 for the 2022 Annual Budget and P188,846,174 for the Economic Enterprise Development Department, he said.Ferrer said they held their first face-to-face session at the Capitol in several months on Tuesday to approve the budget unanimously.They had previously been holding SP sessions via Zoom because of the COVID-19 pandemic.“I would like to commend the board members for their cooperation during the budget deliberations, most especially our chairman of the Committee on Finance, Board Member Rommel Debulgado,” he said.Ferrer said they are endorsing to Gov. Health workers set to get booster jabs
Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are ready to administer the third dose or booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine on health care workers starting Wednesday, November 17.However, they were waiting for the National Vaccine Operations Center's booster shot guidelines, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz and Dr. Chris Sorongon, Bacolod Emergency Operations Center deputy said, Tuesday.The Department of Health in a public advisory recommended Moderna, Pfizer, and Sinovac as booster doses regardless of the brand used in the primary series.The use of a third dose has yet to be approved for the general population.*
Capitol hopes to reopen Mambukal to tourists soon
The Negros Occidental provincial government is hoping to reopen its Mambukal Resort in Murcia to domestic tourists by December, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday, November 16.The COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental, which is under Alert Level 2, dropped to 868 on Tuesday, he said.The resort since last year has been used as a healing center for COVID-hit provincial government employees.There were only two COVID-19 patients at Mambukal but a hospital employee along with her husband and child were hit by the virus and were also brought to the resort, Diaz said.“If all things go well we can open Mambukal to domestic tourists by December,” he said.Diaz said he hopes the provincial government’s campaign on radio and social media convinces more people...
