Pink volunteers join Valladolid Our Lady of Guadalupe feast

More than a thousand parishioners of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Valladolid, Negros Occidental, got to taste the “Lugaw ni Leni” handed out by supporters of presidential candidate Leni Robredo after the mass celebrating the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, December 11.

Laban Leni Negros Occidental (LLNO) spokesperson, Pinky Ocampo, said that volunteers were “overwhelmed with the warm reception we got from the parishioners and we are thankful that other volunteer groups worked with us to serve the people.”

Aside from lugaw, the group also distributed pink juices, pink pandesal, siopao and entertained the crowd with their signature Pink Mob dance.

“We would also like to thank Fr. Aniceto “Mao” Buenafe for the invitation,” Ocampo said, adding that the presence of Leni volunteers in Valladolid was crucial “to inform the people about the good works done by Vice-President Leni Robredo and why she, among all the candidates, has the best qualifications to lead our country.”

In a videotaped message sent for the occasion, Robredo rallied the people to stay resilient, share and continue to do good. Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Diocese of Bacolod Bishop, Patricio Buzon also attended the feast day mass.

Another group of LLNO volunteers, along with the LGBTQ group in Valladolid also served lugaw to around 450 residents and commuters along Purok 3 and handed out Leni Health Kits which included face masks and alcohol hand sprays.*
