
A passenger died while the driver of a Suzuki Carry was injured when their vehicle bumped a truck parked on the side of a road in Purok Masulhay, Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, April 12.
Ramie De Gusman, 43, of Purok Katilingban 2, Brgy. 29, Bacolod City, died, while Edmundo Padasas Jr., 42, the driver and a security guard from Purok 4, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod, was injured, the police said.
The Suzuki Carry hit the truck driven by Janel Dequiña, 25, of Hacienda Dinaplaan, Brgy. Ma-ao.
Dequiña parked the truck by the roadside to eat dinner, the police said.
However, he heard a noise from behind the truck and discovered that the Suzuki Carry bumped his vehicle.
The victims were brought to a hospital but De Gusman was declared dead on arrival.
The place was dark and there was no early warning device placed behind the truck, the police said.
Dequiña is now detained while police wait for the family of the victims to decide whether they will file charges or agree to a settlement.*
