The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 has approved the release of 7,875 food packs for all households in six barangays in La Carlota City affected by the April 8 Mt. Kanlaon eruption.
The six barangays are Yubo, Haguimit, La Granja, Nagasi, Ara-al and San Miguel, La Carlota Mayor Rex Jalando-on announced on his Facebook page on Saturday, April 12.
The approval came after Rep. Juliet Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) contacted DSWD Regional Director Arwin Razo, followed by a formal request from Jalando-on in behalf of the local government.
Jalando-on thanked Ferrer and Razo for their swift response and support to the city.
He also assured residents that the LGU will continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance.
The food packs will be distributed to all households in the affected six barangays. Distribution schedules and locations will be announced through the local City Social Welfare and Development Office in the coming days, Jalando-on said.*
