P408,000 suspected shabu, .45-caliber pistol seized in Bacolod buy-bust

Police arrested a 53-year-old man and seized about 60 grams of suspected shabu worth P408,000, along with a .45-caliber pistol, during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, early Friday, Oct. 9.

The Bacolod City Police Office identified the arrested suspect as alias “Boy,” a resident of Purok Kagaykay.

Police classified him as a high-value individual who was not listed in Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council records.

The operation was conducted at about 3:13 a.m. by the BCPO City Drug Enforcement Unit, with support from the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 2.

Police said another suspect, identified as alias “Ta,” 37, evaded arrest and remains at large.

Operatives recovered seven sachets of suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, and another knot-tied plastic bag containing suspected shabu.

Police also seized a P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

The confiscated suspected shabu had an estimated total weight of 60 grams and a stated drug price of P408,000, based on the prevailing rate of P6,800 per gram.

Police also recovered a .45-caliber pistol with one magazine loaded with two live rounds of ammunition.

The arrested suspect faces charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Police operations are continuing to locate the second suspect.*
