House to probe Visayas power crisis in Bacolod hearing

Three committees of the House of Representatives will hold a public hearing to look into recurring power outages and other electricity supply problems affecting the Visayas Grid in Bacolod City on Saturday, Oct. 3.The hearing will be jointly conducted by the House committees on Energy, Visayas Development, and Legislative Franchises from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at L’Fisher Hotel.Among the measures to be discussed is House Resolution No. 1429 filed by Deputy Speaker and Bacolod Rep. Two men were arrested in separate operations involving suspected theft of telecommunications equipment in Bacolod City on Sept. 20 and 23, according to Globe Telecom’s Security Response Unit (SRU).In the latest operation, police and security personnel arrested alias “Rodman”, 27, at around 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 23 in connection with a series of reported cell site thefts in the city.The joint operation involved Globe SRU, FTAP, Philtower, Unity Security and the police.Authorities recovered remote radio unit (RRU) cables and a lithium battery reportedly taken from the FTAP/Globe cell site in Brgy.
