
A 37-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman outside a grocery store in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, shortly after midnight Friday, Oct. 9.
Police identified the victim as Teddy Boy Bela-ong, alias “Boy-Boy” or “Gurama,” a resident of Purok Maghinirupay, Bangga Aning of the said barangay.
The shooting happened at about 12:10 a.m. in Purok Mabinuligon.
Initial police investigation showed that Bela-ong had gone to the grocery store for a cash-out transaction and later took shelter in front of the establishment because of the rain while using his cellphone.
Police said the suspect, riding a black Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, initially passed the area before returning while wearing a green raincoat and helmet.
The gunman allegedly stopped in front of the victim and fired several shots while Bela-ong was facing away.
The suspect then fled toward an unknown direction.
Responding medical personnel from Brgy. Punta Taytay found the victim with no signs of life due to multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The Bacolod City Police Office Scene of the Crime Operatives processed the area and recovered four fired cartridge cases believed to be from a caliber .45 pistol.
Police also recovered the victim’s cellphone, P906 in cash, a silver bracelet and a black cap from the crime scene.
The victim’s body was brought to a funeral home.
Police Station 8 said investigation is continuing to determine the motive for the killing and identify the gunman.*
