The Department of Public Works and Highways-Western Visayas (DPWH-6) announced on Thursday, April 24, the completion of a P20.3-million hemodialysis center at Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Negros Occidental.

The national government-funded health facility is expected to provide accessible care to patients in the province’s fifth district.

“This facility significantly enhances healthcare services in the fifth congressional district and beyond, offering efficient and accessible hemodialysis treatment for patients,” DPWH-6 Regional Director Sanny Boy Oropel said in a statement.

According to the Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office, the project involved the construction of a three-story building with roof deck.

The healthcare facility is among the recently completed structures undertaken by the DPWH in the fifth district of Negros Occidental that reflect the agency’s “commitment to community development and public service –from fostering togetherness in barangays to improving healthcare access.”

In Barangay Guintubhan also in Isabela, a single-story 144-square-meter barangay hall worth P4.9 million is now providing a modern space for local governance and community services.

Similar 408-square-meter covered courts have also been completed in Barangay Bato, Hinigaran costing P5.4 million, and in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan town amounting to P5.6 million.

In Himamaylan City, a P5.4-million covered court, spanning 306 square meters, has also been constructed in Barangay Libacao.

The covered courts are multi-purpose structures serving as venues for fiestas, medical missions, sports competitions, school programs, and evacuation shelters, the DPWH-6 said.*PNA
