Negros Occidental vax drive hits 21% of target

The Negros Occidental provincial government has vaccinated 377,318 individuals or 21 percent of its target population of 1.8 million against COVID-19 to reach herd immunity, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Wednesday, October 20.

Silay City has vaccinated the most number of residents at 34,698, followed by Sagay City at 28, 017, Talisay City – 25, 383, Bago City – 24,759, Cadiz City – 23,794, Victorias City – 23, 104 and La Carlota City – 20,016.

But La Carlota City was the highest in terms of target population vaccinated at 42 percent, followed by Silay City at 37 percent, Victorias City -36 percent, Talisay City – 34 percent and Pulupandan – 33 percent.

Diaz said they do not have the target number of minors aged 12 to 17 years old to be vaccinated.

They are in the process of gathering the lists of the towns and cities of Negros Occidental, he said.

Diaz said they are urging local government units to continue vaccination drives on Saturdays and Sundays when more people are off from work and can get vaccinated.*
