The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on Wednesday, October 20, called for the pre-emptive purchase of anti COVID-19 medicines.

The SP approved a resolution authored by Councilor Renecito Novero urging the City Health Office through the City Mayor’s Office to purchase medicines like Remdesivir and Tocilizumab that are reputed to be helpful in the healing and recovery of patients seriously infected with COVID-19.

Remdesivir and Tocilizumab are the medicines that are usually prescribed but they are often unavailable when needed, Novero said.

Their prices are also too high and unaffordable to low-income patients, he added.

There is therefore a necessity for the city to have preemptive purchases of these medicines for the protection of Bacolod City residents who might urgently need them, Novero said.

The SP, acting on resolutions authored by Novero, also expressed its support for the establishment of farm schools at the Sum-ag National High School and Alangilan National High School, and for the School Heads Academy Program of the Department of Education.*
