Guv signs MOU with Korean county for organic agriculture

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Goesan County, Republic of Korea, represented by Lee Cha Young, for the development of organic agriculture advocated by both governments.

The signing was held during a virtual meeting, Tuesday, October 26.

Edgardo “Boyet” Uychiat of Negros Occidental, elected Board Member of International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) Asia and First Vice President of the Executive Board, also witnessed the MOU signing.

The MOU intends to build up mutual cooperation between the two governments, reaffirm their commitment for the advancement of organic agriculture, and promote activities related to the development of organic agriculture in the countries of two governments.

It is also stated in the MOU that both parties intend to implement, jointly and in coordination with the partners, activities based on the proposals discussed and approved by mutual agreement.

Such activities may include exchange of organic specialists to develop new proposals, provide technology expertise, training and education, monitor project delivery and assess outcomes, jointly with partners.*
