Driver, child injured as multicab crashes into sugarcane field in Kabankalan

A driver and his minor son were injured after their multicab crashed into a sugarcane field in Sitio Calasa, Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City on Monday afternoon, April 20.

The driver identified only as “Gin,” 39, was driving a Suzuki Carry multicab when the incident occurred, the police said.

The Kabankalan police said the driver and his son were on their way home to Brgy. Tampalon from Galleria de Pigar when the driver allegedly fell asleep while driving.

This caused the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a sugarcane field.

The driver sustained injuries to his head and right arm, while his son suffered severe head injuries.

They were brought by Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital.

Police said the driver admitted he had not had enough sleep for two days due to cockfighting-related activities.*
