Families displaced by a recent armed encounter in Toboso, Negros Occidental, received relief assistance and security support from the police, local government units, and the military, a Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) report said on Tuesday, April 21.
Joint personnel from Escalante City and Toboso police stations conducted visitation, dialogs, and assistance activities on Monday to ensure the safety and welfare of affected residents.
In Escalante City, authorities engaged with 74 families or 222 individuals temporarily sheltered at Udtongan Elementary School in Brgy. Udtongan.
In Toboso, police and partner agencies assisted 168 families or 633 individuals staying in evacuation centers at Labi-Labi Elementary School and Salamanca Elementary School in Brgy. Salamanca.
During the activities, police conducted anti-terrorism awareness briefings and urged evacuees to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals or activities.
Relief operations, including the distribution of essential goods and feeding programs, were also carried out to address the immediate needs of displaced families.
The police said the coordinated efforts among the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local government units aim to ensure continued support and protection for affected communities.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development also extended assistance.*
