A dispatcher was arrested in a police drug bust at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, on Saturday, October 1.

Nabbed was 40-year-old Christopher Cañete, while his younger brother, 35-year-old Carlo Jake Cañete, who is also a dispatcher, managed to evade arrest after jumping into a river near their house during the bust.

It was the elder brother who transacted with a police-poseur buyer.

Recovered from the scene were eight grams of suspected shabu worth P54,400, and the P500 marked money.

Both suspects are allegedly under the drugs watchlist of the police station and the barangay.

The elder Cañete, who is now in the custody of Police Station 8, was released in 2021 through plea bargaining after he was caught in 2018 for a drug offense.

Both will face drug charges.*
