Buglas Writers Circle to launch Hinigaran folktale children’s book

The Buglas Writers Circle (BWC) will hold a Book Launching and Book Signing of “Mahiwagang Bato sa Malagueña,” a children’s folktale inspired by the rich oral tradition of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, written by Miriam Montero Bayles.

The event will be held at the North Block, SM City Bacolod, 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 13. d. Admission is free.

This literary event is presented through the partnership of SM City Bacolod, the Office of Councilor Wilson N. Gamboa, and G.E.M. Publishing in celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa and History Month.

It seeks to promote the Filipino language, preserve the rich folklore and cultural heritage of Negros Occidental, and encourage children and families to appreciate local stories that shape our identity as a people.

Mahiwagang Bato sa Malagueña retells a treasured folktale from Hinigaran, bringing to life the wisdom, traditions, and values passed down through generations. Through engaging storytelling, the book introduces young readers to the beauty of Negrense culture while nurturing a love for reading and Philippine literature.

One of the highlights of the program is the Book Signing by author Miriam Montero Bayles, giving readers an opportunity to meet the writer and have their copies personally signed.

Organizers invite literature enthusiasts, educators, parents, and children to join the celebration and support local Negrense authorship.*
