447 JOs in Isabela finally paid: mayor

The Sangguniang Bayan of Isabela, Negros Occidental, finally approved the release of funds for the payment of more than 400 job order workers, Mayor Irene Montilla said Friday, December 10.

“I made sure they got paid for three paydays because they stopped getting paid starting October 15,” the Isabela mayor said.

They were paid their salaries from October 15 to November 30, Montilla said.

The mayor in November had complained that 447 JO workers had not been paid since October because of the failure of the SB led by Vice Mayor Renato Malabor Jr. to approve the release of funds.

Malabor is running against Montilla for mayor of Isabela in the 2022 polls.

There are still a lot of pending requests that the SB has not acted on, which is crippling the delivery of basic services and they still have payables that have not been addressed, Montilla said.*
