Two policemen and an arrested drug personality were injured after being hit by a car during a buy-bust operation at the Panaad Access Road in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, 10:18 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11.

A 35-year-old staff sergeant was hospitalized, while a police corporal and the drug suspect were treated as out patients.

The Bacolod Police Station 7 cops arrested alias “Joefer”, 23, a resident of Brgy. Mansilingan, who was listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council watchlist and seized P136,000 in shabu.

However, in the middle of the arrest, a black sedan driven by alias Jesus, also of Brgy. Mansilingan, hit the policemen and the drug suspect, and damaged a tricycle.

The drug suspect and the driver of the sedan are now in police custody.

The driver of the car was not injured and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to properties.

A case of violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the subject of the buy-bust operation.

The incident highlights the unpredictable risks policemen face in drug operations, a Bacolod City Police Office statement said.*
