UNegA likely to support single presidential bet

The United Negros Alliance is likely to support a single candidate for president in the 2022 polls, Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, UNegA chairman, said Wednesday, November 17

They have not discussed the matter yet but he will abide by the consensus of UNegA, Marañon added.

They are expected to meet in December, he said.

Marañon said he is also a member of the National Unity Party that has not declared whom it will support for president.

Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva (Negros Occidental, 2nd District) has said NUP will not be supporting any presidential candidate so local candidates will have a free hand on whom they will support, he added.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and former Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez of Love Negros also have yet to name whom they will support for president.

Lacson earlier said it would be difficult to get all officials to support one presidential candidate.*
