The United Negros Alliance may hold its general assembly next week in preparation for the 2025 polls, Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, UNegA president, said on Monday, August 12.

Ferrer, who is running for representative of the 4th District, said UNegA will announce its candidates for vice governor and mayors during the assembly.

The UNegA bet for vice governor is expected to be Board Member Jose Benito Alonso.

Ferrer said they are still resolving the possibility that two UNegA members will run against each other for mayor of Moises Padilla. The two are Mayor Ella Garcia Yulo and Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor.

In Kabankalan City there are rumors that Board Member Valentino Miguel “Macho” Alonso, a UNegA member will run for mayor.

Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda has announced that he is seeking reelection, while former mayor Isidro Zayco is also rumored to be planning a comeback.

The two are not members of UNegA.

Ferrer said they have not made a decision on whom they will support for Kabankalan mayor but they have a UNegA member interested in running for the post.

The vice governor said he does not know if the Arroyo camp is fielding a congressional bet to challenge Rep. Emilio Yulo III in the 5th District.*
