DILG-NIR honors 9 LGUs for excellence in infrastructure governance

The Department of the Interior and Local Government  Negros Island Region (DILG NIR) honored nine outstanding local government units (LGUs) for demonstrating superior infrastructure governance and project monitoring during the FY 2026 SubayBAYANI Awards held at the Sugarland Hotel  in Bacolod City, Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The annual awards recognize LGUs that excel in tracking, implementing, and maintaining transparency in government-funded infrastructure projects using the SubayBAYANI platform.

Leading the honorees in the Province Category were the provincial governments of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

In the City Category, the city governments of Bago, Sipalay, and Victorias bagged top honors for their exemplary performance in project monitoring and public accountability.

Meanwhile, the municipal governments of Enrique Villanueva in Siquijor, Isabela in Negros Occidental, and Zamboanguita in Negros Oriental were recognized in the Municipality Category.

In a statement, the DILG NIR commended the awardees for setting high standards in public administration and infrastructure oversight across the region.

“The DILG Negros Island Region proudly recognizes this year’s SubayBAYANI Exemplars for their outstanding performance in infrastructure governance and project monitoring,” the agency said.

“These awards are testaments to your unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in local governance.”

The SubayBAYANI (Subaybayan ang Proyektong Bayan) portal serves as the DILG’s primary digital monitoring mechanism, allowing local government units and civil society organizations to track the physical and financial status of locally funded projects in real time.*
