
Two suspected New People’s Army rebels were killed in an encounter with 94th Infantry Battalion troops in Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the 94IB troopers responded to reports of civilians on the presence of armed NPA men in their community that resulted in a gunbattle with about seven fully armed rebels.
The fleeing rebels left behind their two slain comrades, whose identities are still being established, he added.
Initially recovered from the encounter site were two . 45 caliber pistols, assorted explosives, and subversive documents.
Three days earlier, a former government militiaman was killed by suspected NPA rebels in Sitio Cantupa, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Lt. Col. Romeo Vargas, the city’s police chief, said.*
