San Carlos gov’t conducts7th random drug testing

The San Carlos City government in Negros Occidental conducted its 7th random drug testing for 2023 at the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) Operations Center on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The results are expected to be out Friday.

A total of 98 CDRRMO employees, including those assigned in their satellite offices, were tested, a San Carlos City press release said.

Ana Liza S. Macaraya of the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC) secretariat said the CDRRMO employees are drug tested annually to ensure a drug-free workplace.

Job order employees will be automatically discharged from work if they test positive, while the regular employees will be informed through a letter and undergo disciplinary actions depending on the result of the Drug Dependency Examination or DDE under the guidelines of the Civil Service Commission, Macaraya said.

CDRRM Officer Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr. said he has been constantly reminding the employees under his supervision of their liability once they are involved in illegal drug use.

Drug tests have also been conducted this year at the Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Engineering Department assigned at the Motorpool, Information Technology and Computer Services Office, Traffic Management Authority, People’s Park Management Office, Sports Office, Public Market and Slaughterhouse Department, City Waterworks Department, and City Environment Management Office, the press release said.*
