Robinsons Land Corp. has partnered with the Bacolod City government on a series of initiatives aimed at improving public spaces, mobility and tourism while creating livelihood and community opportunities for residents, Oct. 8.
In a press release, the partnership will serve as the first local initiative under Robinsons Land’s “Hand in Hand for Progress” community development platform, which brings together local governments, businesses, institutions and communities for joint projects.
Among the planned initiatives are greener public spaces, improved transport stops and clearer wayfinding systems intended to make it easier for residents and visitors to move around Bacolod and reach heritage sites, food destinations and local businesses.
Robinsons Land said the partnership will also support Creative Bacolod, the city government’s platform connecting the city’s heritage, food, culture and artisanal communities through tourism.
Community-based programs are also being considered in partnership with barangays.
These include training for tour bus and taxi drivers on communicating with visitors and a program that would invite senior citizens to serve as local guides and share their knowledge of Bacolod’s history and culture.
The company said the initiatives are intended to help visitors discover more of Bacolod while supporting local businesses and cultural workers.
Beyond tourism, the partnership is also expected to include a job fair, livelihood programs, support for green entrepreneurship, environmental education and school-led socio-civic activities, the press release said.
Robinsons Land said the program builds on its long-standing presence in Bacolod, which began with the opening of Robinsons Bacolod in 1997 and later expanded through Cybergate Bacolod and Go Hotels Plus Bacolod.
The press release did not specify the total investment, implementation timetable or exact locations of the proposed public space and mobility projects.*
