Regional most wanted person arrested for multiple rape charges

Police arrested the Negros Island Region No. 1 Regional Most Wanted Person during a manhunt operation in Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday morning, March 8.

Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Bebeng,” 62, a resident of Brgy. La Granja.

Police said the suspect was arrested around 10:06 a.m. at Purok 15, BPI Village, Brgy. La Granja, by personnel of the La Carlota City Police Station.

The suspect is facing six counts of qualified rape of a minor, two counts of qualified rape of a minor, and violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the La Carlota police.

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region said the arrest forms part of its intensified campaign against wanted persons.*
