The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is looking to tie up with the management of San Carlos Bio-Energy Inc. (SCBI) in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, for its drug destruction program.

Members of PDEA Negros Occidental and PDEA-6 Laboratory Section met with Alexander Pino, SCBI assistant vice president, and head of its Facility Operations Department, for the site inspection on Saturday, October 30.

The group discussed the proposal to utilize the SCBI facility for the destruction of the agency’s drug evidence, the PDEA press statement said.

Pino also assured PDEA that their company is willing to pool its resources to help the agency carry out its mandate upon the approval of its top management, provided that all statutory and regulatory requirements are fully complied with.

This will be the first drug destruction activity that will be catered by SCBI, PDEA said.

Also, to determine the facility’s suitability for the burning of drug evidence, PDEA personnel conducted an ocular inspection at the facility’s broiling machinery, which was found fit to incinerate drug items.

Thermal destruction method shall be used in the destruction of drug evidence, in accordance with applicable environmental laws, PDEA said.

PDEA may engage the professional services of third parties with thermal facilities covered by valid and subsisting permits and clearances issued by appropriate government agencies, it added.*
