A pastor was injured when a man attempted to stab him in front of a church in Purok Malinong, Brgy. RSB, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, Saturday, February 3.
Injured was a 49-year-old tricycle driver, who is also a pastor at a Seventh Day Adventist Church, from Purok Mahinangpanon, Brgy. DSB in Pontevedra town, whose name the police withheld.
The suspect was a 53-year-old man from Purok Mahirup, Brgy. RSB in La Carlota.
The pastor was in front of the Seventh Day Adventist Church when the suspect arrived carrying a bladed weapon the police said.
He suddenly attacked the pastor who managed to parry the attack as he fell on the road, the police added.
The suspect was disarmed by the church members and turned over to the responding barangay tanod.
The suspect and his bladed weapon were turned over to the La Carlota City Police Station.
The pastor sustained a minor injury in his stomach and was brought to the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital by the rescue team from the Bureau of Fire Protection.*
