A 35-year-old man was arrested after police seized P102,000 worth of suspected shabu and a firearm during a buy-bust operation in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Jojo,” a resident of Zone 1, Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan, and classified him as a street-level individual.
The Kabankalan City Police Station conducted the operation at around 10:29 a.m. in Zone 1 after receiving information that the suspect was allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in Kabankalan and Himamaylan cities.
Police said surveillance and validation operations were conducted before the buy-bust.
Operatives recovered about 15 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P102,000, along with marked money, cash, a cellular phone and drug paraphernalia.
Police also allegedly recovered a 12-gauge pistolized break-type firearm loaded with live ammunition and additional rounds during a search following the arrest.
The seized items were marked, inventoried and documented, with police saying two body-worn cameras were used during the operation.
The suspect is under the custody of the Kabankalan City Police Station and is expected to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*
