
Officials from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) visited Moises Padilla on Tuesday, October 28, to assess ₱300 million in proposed infrastructure projects aimed at improving the municipality’s disaster resilience.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo and Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo “Pimpoy” Yulo III welcomed the OCD team for the evaluation under the Kanlaon Recovery and Development Projects.
The OCD team, led by NIR Regional Director Donato Sermeno III, visited Moises Padilla to assess the feasibility of the projects that will be funded by the agency.
The projects focus on replacing the municipality’s critical access points with stronger and more resilient infrastructure.
The ₱250 million is for the construction of a new and permanent bridge connecting Barangay 1 and Barangay Inolingan. Currently, the two areas rely on a spillway and a hanging bridge.
The ₱50 million is for the construction of a new spillway and hanging bridge connecting Purok Paho and Hacienda Pucatod in Barangay Odiong.
Also present during the activity were Barangay 1 Captain Francis Bernard Garcia, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Reynald Horegue, and Municipal Engineer Agnes Glia Mabag.
The OCD’s assessment reflects the continuing efforts of the local administration to strengthen disaster preparedness and community resilience, the mayor said.*
