Negros Occidental set for tourism vaccination at Magikland

The Negros Occidental provincial government is launching a COVID-19 vaccination tourism program to hasten the inoculation of minors and their parents, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Thursday, Nov 18.

The provincial government will put up a vaccination site at Magikland in Silay City that will provide free tickets into the theme park for fully vaccinated minors aged 12 to 17 years old and half price tickets for their fully vaccinated parents, Diaz said.

The offer is initially set for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, he said, adding that details are being finalized.

They will initially start the vaccination drive for minors and their parents from Silay City who will need to preregister with their local government for the activity at Magikland, Diaz said.

After they have covered those from Silay the Magikland vaccination drive will be opened up to children from other areas of the province, he said.

They will also bring the provincial government’s mobile kitchen to the site to provide free arroz caldo to the vaccinees, he added.

Diaz said the provincial government is open to tourist vaccination partnerships with other tourism destinations in the province like Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City.

He said Vallacar Transit Inc. has also offered its bus terminals as vaccination sites.

Diaz said the provincial government can hold the Panaad sa Negros Festival next year if the COVID-19 situation in the province further improves.

However, “we cannot belittle the pandemic because other countries are experiencing (COVID-19) third and fourth waves already”, Diaz said.*
