The Municipality of Murcia, led by Mayor Gerry Rojas and Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura, together with Sangguniang Bayan Members and department heads, renewed the sisterhood ties with the City of Baguio, led by its Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, ViceMayor Faustino A. Olowan, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members and department heads.

The renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement, which was initially signed between the two Local Government Units in June 1, 2006, was conducted October 7 at the Baguio Country Club, Baguio City, as part of the trip for the formulation of Murcia’s Executive-Legislative Agenda at Baguio City.

Rojas invited Baguio City officials and businessmen to visit Murcia and explore the investment opportunities in the town. He also informed them that Murcia is a fast-growing municipality, which has a developing industry in coffee-growing, flower-growing and eco-tourism. Murcia can benefit from Baguio’s knowledge and expertise in these fields.

Magalong said that the renewal of sisterhood is a good opportunity for both LGUs to share best practices, as Baguio City officials can learn from Murcia officials, while Murcia officials can also learn from Baguio City officials.

Baguio will l help Murcia in creating its own smart city system, because Baguio is a pioneering city, in terms of technology, Magalong said.*PR
