The longest grilling station will be the main highlight of the three-day Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival that kicks off at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod City 5 p.m. Friday, May 26, Councilor Celia Flor said Monday, May 22.

This will be followed by a beer tasting and pairing of chef’s chicken inasal at the North Capitol Road and Capitol Lagoon Park at 6 p.m. also on Friday.

She said from a 300-meter grill previously, this year’s longest grilling station will be 320 meters where thousands of chicken inasal will be cooked at Megaworld’s The Upper East starting 6 p.m. Sunday, May 28.

There will be 1,600 subsidized chicken meals for identified beneficiaries such as the residents of the St. Vincent’s Home for the Aged, Bacolod Boys’ Home, Bacolod Girls’ Home and senior citizens, she said.

The rest of the grilled chicken will be up for sale to the general public, she said.

There will also be a barangay inasal cook-off that will be participated in by participants from about 15 barangays at the Manokan Country 4 p.m. Saturday, May 27.

The festival will have a food fest and nightly entertainment at the Manokan Country, The Upper East and the North Capitol Road, she said.

Traffic rerouting will be conducted during the festival, she added.

The city government’s budget for the festival is P1.5 million but there will also be sponsors, Flor said.*
