Impeachment move vs. BBM won’t prosper, Albee says

Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said he does not believe the impeachment moves against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will prosper.

Benitez said he has not seen the impeachment complaint against Marcos yet but “we owe it to the president that this corruption issue was brought out at the national level”.

Marcos was the one who exposed it, Benitez said.

It’s less than two years away from the filing of certificates of candidacy for the next election, Benitez also noted.

“What good will an impeachment do for us now? It will not do any good,” he said.

His son, Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez (Neg Occ., 3rd District), said they will look at the merits of the impeachment complaint on Monday.

We will see what the people and the majority wants, Benitez said.

House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos on Friday said the House of Representatives will not block and will properly act on any impeachment complaint filed against his father.

Marcos said the House is duty-bound under the Constitution to act on any impeachment complaint once it is formally filed.*
