Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Friday, November 12, that it may be difficult for Negros Occidental officials to agree on supporting one presidential candidate.
“We will try that, but even before that meeting we are already talking”, Lacson said of a possible gathering of Love Negros and United Negros Alliance members to discuss their supporting a single presidential candidate.
It seems that they have different choices, he said.
“I feel that it’s difficult to have one choice for the coming presidential elections,” he added.
Lacson said they are also waiting for November 15 when obviously there will be changes with Davao Mayor Sara Duterte withdrawing her reelection bid and joining the Lakas-CMD.
This has fueled speculation that she could run for president or vice president.
The Commission on Elections deadline for substitution of candidates is on Monday, November 15.
They are waiting for Monday when it will be known who the presidential candidates for the 2022 polls will be, Lacson said.*
