Capitol hopes to reopen Mambukal to tourists soon

The Negros Occidental provincial government is hoping to reopen its Mambukal Resort in Murcia to domestic tourists by December, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday, November 16.

The COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental, which is under Alert Level 2, dropped to 868 on Tuesday, he said.

The resort since last year has been used as a healing center for COVID-hit provincial government employees.

There were only two COVID-19 patients at Mambukal but a hospital employee along with her husband and child were hit by the virus and were also brought to the resort, Diaz said.

“If all things go well we can open Mambukal to domestic tourists by December,” he said.

Diaz said he hopes the provincial government’s campaign on radio and social media convinces more people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The provincial government is working on vaccinating as many people as it can to hasten the province’s hitting herd immunity, he added.*
