Bacolod brgy captain undergoes drug rehab

A Bacolod barangay captain voluntarily underwent drug rehabilitation treatment last year, City Anti-Drug Abuse Council coordinator Primitivo Tabujura said Friday, Feb. 28.

He did not name the incumbent barangay captain from a numbered barangay. The barangay captain underwent in-house rehabilitation at the Balay Silangan for a month and a three-month after care program, Tabujara said.

The barangay captain was listed in the drug watchlist even before Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez assumed office, Tabujara said.

The barangay captain is being “adjudicated” by the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency so his name can be cleared from the drug watchlist, Tabujara added.

Meanwhile, the city government is aiming to increase its drug cleared barangays to 54 percent, he said.

There are now 34 percent or 22 barangays in Bacolod that are considered drug cleared.*
