Local artist Doreen Dofitas has launched her first solo exhibition, “Permission To Play, No Expiry Date,” at Ugsad Creative Space on Molo-Makiling Streets, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
The exhibition features mixed-media artworks that explore the concept of play as an ongoing creative process rather than a stage of life to be outgrown. Through her work, Dofitas challenges traditional artistic constraints and highlights the reuse of discarded materials.
A self-taught, Bacolod-based contemporary artist, Dofitas utilizes handmade and recycled paper, fabric, acrylics, pen, and ink in her pieces. Her technique combines textured layering, negative space, and contrasting color backgrounds to form dream-like compositions incorporating folk and botanical motifs.

According to the artist’s statement, the exhibition uses organic and reusable elements to examine the connection between internal personal experiences and the surrounding environment, while focusing on themes of cultural heritage, movement, and identity.*
