Senator Francis Tolentino said he will support the push for the creation of the Negros Island Region, which will be composed of Negros and Siquijor islands.

Tolentino was in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, on Friday, February 10, for the distribution of P4.5 million in financial assistance to 1,500 residents of the 4th District of Negros Occidental.

Tolentino, who was accompanied by Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District), distributed P3,000 to each beneficiary through the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The funds were for medical and burial expenses.

Tolentino said he will deliver more projects to the 4th District in coordination with the vice governor.

The senator also said he will support the push for the creation of the NIR to give Negros’ autonomy to boost its development and economy.*
