A 9-year-old girl was left for dead after she was allegedly raped by the friend of her father in Bacolod City on Friday, November 26.
The following day, the minor-victim was found at a vacant lot in City Heights Subdivision, Bacolod City after the suspect, identified as Sherwin Trava, surrendered to the Bago City police and confessed to the crime.
He also revealed to authorities where he left the body of the victim.
Maj. Leo Estopa, Police Station 6 commander, said they immediately responded and found the victim, whose head and face were smashed with a stone.
First responders said there were still signs of life so she was immediately rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. She expired early Monday morning, November 29.
Estopa said that the suspect executed a judicial confession and admitted to having hit the victim’s head four times with a stone.
He said the suspect will face charges for rape with homicide.
‘FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE’
The victim’s mother said her daughter fought for her life even if “her body was already dead.”
She was crying and still responding, even if she couldn’t talk, the grieving mother said.
She said that the suspect stayed in their house on Thursday, November 25, and that her daughter went missing the following day.
the victim, the third of four children, was last seen with the suspect.
Maricel Barido, whose sari-sari store was located in front of the vacant lot where the victim was found, said the suspect had been to their store, and that he was seen before at the vacant lot with his girlfriend.
They also heard a tricycle coming in and out in the area, and that her husband heard a voice of a girl but didn’t mind it as it could be a neighbor’s child.*
