800 more ASF hit farmers in Negros to receive aid

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office will distribute cash assistance to about 800 farmers whose pigs were hit by African Swine Fever in three towns in the 4th and 5th Districts of Negros Occidental on February 13.

PSWD Officer Chiqui Gonzales said on Friday, February 2, that about 800 hog raisers from Valladolid, San Enrique, and Hinigaran towns will receive their P2,000 cash assistance from the provincial government.

Gonzales said that about 5,000 hog raisers will benefit from this cash assistance program.

They also distributed cash assistance to about 800 hog raisers from six barangays of Ilog in December 2023, she said.

Some of the hog raisers are still complying with the requirements, which include certifications from the barangay and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in their respective areas, she said.*
