8 more JOs in San Carlos test positive for illegal drugs

Eight more job order workers of the San Carlos City government tested positive for illegal drugs, Ana Liza Macaraya, focal person of the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, said on Thursday, Dec. 5.

She said they were among the 170 employees of the City Waterworks and City Engineering Department who underwent drug tests on Dec. 2.

San Carlos regularly conducts drug testing in order to have a drug free workplace.

From August 12 to December, 951 employees were subjected to drug testing and 21 tested positive for illegal drugs, Macaraya said.

In August eight tested positive and they were job order workers who have been dismissed.

In November, five tested positive – four of whom were job order workers and one regular employee who were subjected to confirmatory testing.

Macaraya said for humanitarian reasons, especially during the celebration of Christmas, the mayor will allow the 12 job order workers who tested positive in November and December to stay on until the end of the year.*
