2 senior citizens die in accidents

Two senior citizens died in accidents in Kabankalan City and Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Alexander Baguna, 61, a sugarcane rigger, died after he was ran over by a sugarcane truck at a transloading station in Brgy. Tapi, Kabankalan City.

The truck accidentally ran over the senior when the driver did not notice that he was sitting under the vehicle, the police said.

The driver was identified as Cherry Lintijas, 46, of Purok 2, Brgy. Manduao, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, who is now in police custody.

Meanwhile, Jose Vallar, 69, also died after he was accidentally hit by an ambulance in Sitio Nasug-ong, Brgy. Caradio-an, Himamaylan City.

The victim who was tending to his carabao attempted to cross the street and when he saw the ambulance he tried to go back to the side of the road but was hit.

The ambulance driven by Leo Jaruba, 62, of Brgy. Talaban, Himamaylan, was transporting dialysis patients to Bacolod City prior to the accident.

The victim was brought to the Gov. Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital but was declared dead due to a massive head injury.*
