202 fires in Bacolod in 2025, down 31.5%, BFP reports

There were 202 fires that his Bacolod City in 2025 causing P33.4 million in damage, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod City Fire Station reported on Wednesday, Jan. 7.

The fires decreased by 31.5 percent from 295 with total damage of P57.32 million in 2024, the BFP-Bacolod said.

There were six fatalities and 16 injured in the 2025 Bacolod fires compared to 14 injured and one death in 2024.

The common causes of fires in 2025 were electrical ignition and open flames from candles.

There were fewer fires in 2025 because of effective fire safety interventions under the city’s Red Zone Program, which focuses on fire-prone areas, and no El Niño unlike in 2024, Fire Officer 2 Paul Servano, public information officer of BFP-Bacolod, said.*
