Two alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested by police and military authorities in Sitio Mainit, Brgy. Santol, Binalbagan town in Negros Occidental at dawn Sunday, September 10.
Junjie Camanso, 30, and Judy Blazer, 61, of Barangay Santol were arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest for attempted murder and murder, respectively, Maj. Alenel Valles, 62nd Infantry Battalion acting civil military operations officer, said.
The suspects were alleged members of the NPA operating in the area.
Judge Walter Zorilla of the Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Himamaylan City, issued the warrant of arrest against Camanso for attempted murder on Sept. 28, 2019 and set his bail at P120,000.
A warrant of arrest for murder was also issued by Judge Edgardo Catilo of the RTC in Himamaylan City against Blazer on Feb. 9, 2005 with no bail recommended.
The Joint Enhanced Military and Police Operation (JEMPO) was conducted by the Binalbagan Police Station and 62nd Infantry Battalion, with composite elements of the 2nd Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company, 61st Special Action Company, 6th Special Action Battalion, PNP-SAF, 300th Air Intelligence Wing, Philippine Air Force, and Regional Intelligence Unit, Valles said.
The suspects are now detained at the Binalbagan Police Station.
The 62IB in partnership with the PNP will continue its efforts in intensifying the JEMPO against the remaining members of NPA to sustain the peace and development in Central Negros, Valles said.*
