Water supply has been restored to residents of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, Mayor Ella Garcia Yulo said on Monday, Dec. 2.
The mayor together with representatives of the Office of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, La Castellana police and Barangay Cabacungan officials spearheaded the restoration of the water supply from the Tikoy-Tikoy reservoir, a Municipality of Moises Padilla Facebook page post said.
This followed the recent arrest of Elmo Nueva and his children for alleged “extortion and robbery” involving the water source in Tikoy-Tikoy, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana town, it said.
Plumbers from the local government of Moises Padilla conducted an assessment of the damaged pipes and blockages caused by sacks and rocks deliberately placed in the water lines, a press release said.
Barangay Tanod members of the town also worked together to clean the surrounding area.
PNP personnel assisted in boosting security efforts together with the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) at the reservoir to ensure its safety.
Yulo thanked the governor and La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan for their assistance in restoring water supply to Moises Padilla.
Earlier Yulo sought the intervention of governor to address the water supply issues in the locality.
Thirteen of Moses Padilla’s 15 barangays rely on water from the Tikoy Tikoy Spring.
The LGU holds a valid Water Permit No. 022660 issued by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), authorizing it to appropriate the waters of Tikoy Tikoy Spring for its constituents, the mayor said.*
